Bayern Munich are close to signing Zinedine Zidane as coach from summer onwards, Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo reported on Friday.

The former Real Madrid coach is reportedly one step away from becoming the next head coach of its Champions League semifinal opponent Bayern Munich, according to a report.

Zidane has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. He has been linked with a number of jobs since then, but nothing has materialized.

Bayern Munich are looking for a new coach after Hansi Flick left to take over the Germany national team. The Bundesliga champions have been linked with a number of coaches, including Erik ten Hag, Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino.

If Zidane does join Bayern Munich, it would be a major coup for the club. Zidane is one of the most successful coaches in the world, having won three Champions League titles with Real Madrid.
