Devastating Quake Rocks Southern California

Rescue Crews Search for Survivors as Death Toll Rises

A massive earthquake has struck Southern California, killing at least 45,263 people and leaving thousands more injured. The quake, which had a magnitude of 7.8, struck at 4:32 p.m. PST, and was centered near the city of Ridgecrest. The quake was felt across the region, from Los Angeles to San Diego, and has caused widespread damage to buildings and infrastructure.

Rescue crews are currently searching for survivors in the rubble, but the death toll is expected to rise as more buildings are inspected. The quake has also caused a number of fires, which are being extinguished by firefighters. Power outages are affecting large areas of the region, and water mains have been damaged, leaving many residents without water.

The California Governor has declared a state of emergency and has activated the National Guard to assist with the rescue efforts. President Trump has also pledged federal assistance to the region. The earthquake is the deadliest in California since the 1994 Northridge quake, which killed 60 people.
